Hello I am Natalie Menyweather,
I have a love of people and animals and fulfilled a lifelong dream to work with both, training with Equine Psychotherapy Australia in November 2013. I now offer Equine Assisted Learning in private practice with my equine herd of four horses or in outreach at people’s homes with their horses.
Having studied a Bachelor of Social Work I have worked in the housing and homelessness sector, remote aboriginal communities with youth, families, children and their animal members. I have worked in the disability sector with adults and children, within the child protection system and in prisons across south east Queensland. I currently work part time in field education at the University of the Sunshine Coast supporting social work students on their field placements and offering supervision.
Since I came across animal assisted social work I have been passionate about developing my knowledge and wisdom in this field. I am currently researching into the field of animal assisted therapy and learning within a Masters of social work by research, aiming to create new knowledge, concepts and theory in this field. To increase my knowledge in this field I completed a post graduate certificate with the University of Denver on the human animal bond in 2014.
I look forward to working with you alongside my horses in the near future,
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions by either phone or email,
BSW, Equine Assisted Learning practitioner
